Scholarships
MOSPRA Scholarships
MOSPRA will provide scholarships for our members to attend both state and national conferences. All MOSPRA Scholarships will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee and a recommendation regarding recipients will be provided to the MOSPRA Executive Board for approval.
Checks for scholarships must go through the recipient's district.
State Conference Scholarships
Fall Conference Scholarships. Maximum of $400 for each scholarship.
- Deadline: 2025 Deadline TBD
- Criteria: Membership in MOSPRA; Need/ budget constraints would hamper ability to attend; Preference will be given to those that have not received the MOSPRA Conference Scholarship in the last two years. Scholarship may be used to pay for conference registration, hotel, and/or travel for the MOSPRA conference.

Spring Conference Scholarships. Maximum of $750 for each scholarship
- Deadline: January 17, 2025 (4 pm)
- Criteria: Membership in MOSPRA; need/ budget constraints would hamper ability to attend; Preference will be given to those that have not received the MOSPRA Conference Scholarship in the last two years.
- Scholarship may be used to pay for conference registration, hotel, and/or travel for the conference.
NSPRA Conference Scholarship
- Maximum of $2,500 for each scholarship
- Deadline for application: Dec. 1, 2024
- Criteria: Membership in MOSPRA; Need/ budget constraints would hamper ability to attend; Preference will be given to those that have not received the NSPRA Conference Scholarship in the last five years
- Requirements: Recipient must present a workshop based on knowledge gained at NSPRA for members at a regional meeting, fall conference, or spring conference
- Scholarship may be used to pay for conference registration, hotel, and/or airfare for the NSPRA National -Seminar
New Professional Scholarship

MOSPRA is pleased to add a scholarship specifically to assist those new to the profession. The MOSPRA New Professional Scholarship, underwritten by former MOSPRA President and NSPRA Board Member, Chris Tennill, APR, will be for those in their first, second or third year as a school communications professional. Chris has been active in helping those new to the profession through his work in both MOSPRA and NSPRA and his wish is to continue supporting professional development for those in their early years in the field.
- The scholarships are earmarked for a new professional, specifically, those in their first, second or third year in school communications.
- Scholarships will cover conference registration and hotel for the "official" conference days.
- The donated funds will reflect the amount given for other Spring and Fall Scholarships. The Spring Conference Scholarships are $750, and the Fall Conference Scholarships are $400. (The values may be adjusted and we will inform members if changes are made.)
- Starting in the fall of 2025, the New Professional Scholarship will be provided to one individual to cover both the Fall and Spring Conferences; however, Chris would like to see the program launch in time for the 2025 Spring Conference. With that in mind, for Spring 2025, the recipient will only be covered for the 2025 Spring Conference.
Those applying will be in their first, second, or third year as a school communications professional. In their application, members must share information about their professional goals and aspirations, provide insights into their current work responsibilities, and discuss why the scholarship is important to their ability to attend conferences.
Applications for the New Professional Scholarship are due January 17, 2025.
